Abstract: Creativity is undoubtedly one of the core competencies in communication design, yet there has been little research to date that deals with increasing the “Graphic Creativity”.
Consequently, the two research questions were posed: “Which methods can help to expand one’s own creativity?” As well as: “To what extent does targeted experimen- tation with the methods “incubation, aerobic movement, irritation and binaural beats” influence the “graphic creativity” of communication designers?” To answer the first research question, an extensive literature review was conducted. The derived methods were then packaged as a print product.
Subsequently, the effectiveness of four methods was tested in a within-subject-experiment and then assessed by experts using the Consensual Assessment Technique. The results of the experiment show no clear significance between the factors and “Graphic Creativity”. The results and the research gap in this area suggest that further research is needed to achieve positive results in increasing “Graphic Creativity”.
